Saturday was the first meeting of the Half Marathon Training Group. I really like Dwight, the coach. He seems down to earth, he's not condescending, and he really seems to want to help us run properly. I thought the training would include long runs, but apparently the program will be individualized based on our own pace, goals, and abilities. I'm excited about that.
We ran one mile on the trails around the school. He showed us exercises to do and how to properly run up and down a hill. Then we hit the track to do an assessment mile. He ran with each of us and pointed out some things about how we run. I need to increase my cadence, shorten my stride, and keep my hands lower. I think this training will be good for me.
