I didn't run today. I took the bike out instead and I really enjoyed it! The weather was beautiful. I took the road bike and had to practice clipping in and out again. But then I got going and all was well until I had to slow down. I forgot how to downshift! I really had to push to get myself going again since I was in the higher gear, but I just couldn't figure it out. I rode through the neighborhood next door while I tried to remember. Just when I was about to call someone and feel like a COMPLETE IDIOT for doing so, it came to me. I had to push both the brake lever and the gear shift lever! Ah. It was a much more pleasant ride after that. I ended up doing 5.76 miles in 30 minutes.
The Garmin 405 is multisport, but you can't change the settings with the push of a button like you can on the 301. You have to go through a bunch of menus to change from running to cycling, but it can be done. It wouldn't be the thing to have during a duathlon, as you would spend some time trying to switch between them. However, I think if I knew what to push it wouldn't take long.
My rump is feeling pretty good. Better than I thought. I figured I'd have trouble sitting today since I have been out of the saddle for a long time, but so far so good. I hope that won't change. I will try to ride more often, as it was quite enjoyable this morning.
