Since I worked the marathon this morning, my long run had to wait until this afternoon. I was a little concerned about the dark clouds, but I figured that since tomorrow's rain chance is 70%, I should risk it today or I'll end up on the treadmill tomorrow. Not that the treadmill is bad, it is just tough for eight miles. I think it will be awesome for some of the shorter runs. The dark clouds were no where to be found once I set out.
Anyway, I decided to go to Navy Point Park today, and that was a great decision. The park is beautiful. i ran the long section first, which was 3.5 miles and then did the north section, which is a mile. I stopped at the car and had some water and grabbed the GU Chomps. Then I redid the south section and got my eight miles.
I stopped once more somewhere around 5.5 miles to take this picture.
It was so neat; I didn't want to pass up the opportunity. The sunset was pretty too, but I wanted to make sure I could get back to the car before it got dark. I think this will be my place for the long runs.
Splits for this run were 10:20, 10:25, 10:38, 10:50, 11:15, 11:14, 11:28, 11:25.
I think the GU Chomps helped. Maybe not physically, but mentally I think I could have gone another mile or more! That was kinda cool. They were also tasty. It was nice to have a flavor in my mouth other than bleh.
I hope my knees will be OK tomorrow!
