Seven miles down, 6.1 to go

Today was my long run for the week, and my longest to date. I ran seven miles. The only time I stopped was to take off my fleece, hat, and gloves, and stash them. It started out chilly at 44 degrees, but it warmed up quite a bit in the sun. I was comfortable in a long sleeve tech shirt and tights. I hope the weather for the half will be like that.

I ran the seven miles in 1:15:14, for an average pace of 10:45. Splits were 9:52, 10:20, 10:48, 10:58, 10:57, 11:14, 11:11. I realize that isn't the fastest I've done, but I am happy with it. Had it been a race I think the excitement would have me going a little faster. In good news, I spent 1:11 in HR Zone 4, so I should have burned off most of the fat from last night's chocolate cake!

I wanted to try bringing the GU Chomps (little energy cube things) with me on this run to see if they would help. The problem is, I don't have any pockets, so I couldn't figure out how to carry them along. My cycling jerseys have pockets in the back, but none of my running gear has any pockets. I am hoping my DM friends have advice for me about that.

Well, I'm off to the Arts Festival and then the Old Farmhouse Craft Show. I'll probably end up walking another seven miles today and getting a great workout!
