Success

Yesterday was a good day. All my jam jars were successfully canned, so they are now shelf safe for a while. I did open the half jar and had jam on my toast. It was FABULOUS! It was the right consistency, the right sweetness, and had the right amount of fruit bits. Yum! I'm going to bring some of it in to share with the ladies tonight.

I also made tofu last night successfully. Monica explained that the "secret" is all the water has to be pressed out or it won't brown. So I pressed the water out and sure enough, it browned! I put BBQ sauce on it and had it with peas and red potatoes.

I took the dogs to the vet yesterday morning. I wanted to get there early so I didn't spend all day there. They are both in good shape, although one of Rava's ears is a little yeasty. I just have to clean it. Dr. Glenn is concerned about some of the fatty lumps on Rava, especially the one at her underarm. She said that may make it difficult to walk. She already has arthritis there, so I don't want to make it any tougher than it is. We talked about surgically removing at least that one, and there are two others that are of significant size that we may as well take out while she's under. And do her teeth. There's no rush, so we'll plan that for a few weeks from now. I want her to have fun with Bill while he's here.

Then I took the paperwork to the bank. Cody thinks I should file a claim with BP, since my business was down this summer. If we had the same business as last year, we would not have had to personally loan the company any money. That was my hope at the start of the year, but it didn't happen. I suppose I can get my ducks together and see what it takes to file a claim. I feel a little goofy doing it and I told him so, but he seems insistent that if I rely on tourists to make it through the summer, and my sales to tourists are off, I have a legitimate claim.

My hair appointment was cancelled, so I went to the grocery store and then came home. I finished my Secret Garden socks last night, the ones I'm doing with Michelle. I really wanted to get them off the needles. I'd like to start the ones for Monica in the hopes of having them done by Christmas. I'll put a picture up later.

Well, time to clean some dishes and get my stuff together so I can get ready for a long day at work.
