Blueberry jam, that is! Do you remember back in July I went blueberry picking with my friend Michelle and her family? Well, she's been having trouble with the blueberry wine, making me rethink that idea. My sister, Monica, was here last week and inspired me to start canning! I made blueberry jam tonight!
I made 10 and 1/2 jars, but I think the half jar will be opened tomorrow and the jam spread on my toast! I hope that I will have been successful. It was an exhausting and messy effort, but I enjoyed it. It used a little more than three bags of blueberries. I thawed five. So now I have a few cups for snacking, which certainly isn't a bad thing.
I did not run this morning. I opened the door to let the dogs out and it was like opening the oven door. I went back to sleep and it felt good. Brunch at End of the Line was super tasty and the company was excellent. I really enjoyed catching up with Cherryl. She knows her way around a sewing machine and said she'd help me with it if I get one.
I guess I should back up here, since I don't know if I've discussed this. I have been thinking about getting a sewing machine and a treadmill, for days like today. I figure I've spent some money at a local tailor getting bags lined, possibly enough to have bought an entry level machine. I don't plan on sewing clothes or costumes or anything like that, but I would like to line bags, add a zipper to my knit sweater, make a project bag for a gift, and little basic things like that. Maybe that will be my birthday present.
I've been thinking more about the treadmill. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't have to worry if it is too dark out, or I can run in the rain, the oppressive heat and humidity, and the two days of freezing cold we'll get this winter. I'm going to check craigslist and see about going that route. I realize I'm taking a chance, but I'd rather pay $100 than $1,000.
Tomorrow will be a busy day. I've got to take the dogs in for their annual shots, take some paperwork to the bank, get my hair cut, go to the IRS (both for personal taxes and to get information on what taxes pop up if I hire someone), and go to the grocery store.
