What a beautiful day for a run! I thought it might not be with all the rain we had last night, but it was wonderful. A little on the chilly side, but I brought gloves and earwarmers. Yet I went out in my skirt.
The first part of today's workout I ran 1.65 miles in 17:17 for an average pace of 10:27. I was going to the gardens but changed my mind. I ran to Baldwin Street instead.
For the second part of the workout I walked up Baldwin Street. That sounds off until you find out that Baldwin street is the "steepest street" in the world. It has a gradient of 1:2.86. That is 35%! The sidewalks were STAIRS! When I got to the top I thought I was looking down a roller coaster! It took 9:06 to go 0.23 miles. What is interesting is that the horizontal distance covered was a little over 600 feet and the vertical distance was just shy of 200 feet. WOW!
Then I ran back to the hotel, 1.65 miles in 18:00 for an average pace of 10:53. What a fun workout!
