Regina and I got to the shop early yesterday after stopping for coffee and a short visit with Teresa. We packed up a ton of stuff. I am really pleased with the progress we made. We are currently in debate on whether we want to leave for Seaside on Friday instead of Thursday and spend an extra day packing up or whether we will be OK with just today and four days next week. I think we'll see how we do today and go from there. We'll make that decision this afternoon.
I joined the McGuire's running group last night for the first time. It was a lot of fun! Regina decided to stay home. My friend Chris met me there. His wife started early and did her C25k workout. A woman who looked to be late 20s came up to me before Chris got there and asked if I was a lonely runner. She was in town visiting her dad and decided to run with the group and wanted someone to run with - someone who didn't have headphones on. I told her I needed to take it slow, and she seemed OK with that. When we started running I got the distinct impression that an 8 minute pace would be slow for her.
We flew down the road and I knew we were in the nines. I was having a great time being a part of a group and having people to talk to while running (although carrying on a conversation was a little tough for me) I didn't care how fast. She ended up going at her pace after the first mile and Chris and I stayed at the original pace. It was a little slow for him, too, but he was in it for the company.
We got to the end and found Marisa. We chatted for a few minutes and tried to get her to get on Daily Mile. There was a guy there in Vibrams and she asked him how he liked running in them. Of course he said they were great (I'm sure he wouldn't be running in them if he didn't like them). She asked if he had "meaty feet"? He looked at her a little quizzically and I said, "She's asking if your feet are as buff as the rest of you." That of course got a laugh from Chris and a smack on the arm from Marisa. But he took off his shoe and showed her his feet. Then his buddy called him over and Marisa gave me her email. Then she asked me what his name was and I said I didn't know. She said, "That's OK. I'll find out." and went over to talk to him. Chris and I left and as we were walking away I said that I hope I get an invitation to the wedding.
Chris and his wife go to Hopjack's after the run every week and he invited me to join them. The waitress only brought one menu, as apparently they get the same thing week after week. It wasn't until she brought the check that I realized that my purse was in the car back at McGuire's! I had my ID in my shoe wallet but no money. Chris said not to worry about it. I had a Pensacola Bay Brewery IPA with dinner and it was delicious! Then they drove me back to my car and went on their way. I headed home and told Regina the story and went to bed.
One other neat thing that happened yesterday is that I bought my first Groupon. Yesterday's deal was $15 for $30 at Bella Luna Pizzeria. That was the place with the EXCELLENT pizza! Yay! The deal is good until September, and it took all I had to not blow off McGuire's last night and go there instead! I'm glad I didn't. There will be other days to use it, I'm sure.
