Another practice 5k smoked!

In preparation for Saturday's 5k I did a 5k run this morning. The weather was cloudy, about 82 degrees or so, and there was no wind. I didn't do quite as well as I did last week, but I am happy with my time. I finished in 32:50! I think the GPS kept better track of my distance. My laps were:

1.0 mi / 10:14
1.0 mi / 10:43
1.0 mi / 10:50
0.1 mi / 1:02

That seems more realistic than last time when my first mile was in the 9 minute range, my second in the 11 minute range and the third mile was in the 10 minute range. If I can keep this up on Saturday I will be thrilled!

The day at the shop was good. This month is turning out to be way better than the past two months. I am encouraged by the improvement. I talked to Bill tonight briefly about an exit strategy and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from me.

Speaking of Bill, he did his Oral Proficiency Interview today! This is the culmination of four months of hard-core studying of Pashto. He says he did well, but the results haven't been released yet. I am sure that he kicked butt! Every time I talk to him he translates something I say into Pashto. He gives lectures to his class on current events and fields questions on his presentation ... all in Pashto! I am so proud of him I could burst! I know this has been super challenging for him, as it has exercised an area of his brain that has been more or less dormant for many years. But I know him. When he is given a task, he puts his heart and soul into it and goes above and beyond any expectations. I know he has done that with this task. I don't know that I would have the same diligence and drive. That's just one of the many many reasons I'm crazy about him!

I am so looking forward to seeing him. Only about 72 hours to go!
