First, a happy anniversary to my parents, who have been married for 42 years today and to my in-laws who celebrated 45 years on the June 5th!
I slept in today. I was going to run this morning, but just couldn't. I didn't sleep well because of the pain in my hands, so I just wanted a little more time. I saw Cherryl before work. She called to ask if I wanted a salve to help and it seems to be helping. When I called and said I wasn't going to run, she went to the base gym and did a crossfit workout of the day on her own. I think that she has been turned off by the constant "you gotta push yourself until you pass out" kind of attitude, but she likes the concept of the workout. That may be the way to go. We can go at our own pace and push each other, but not feel like we have to rip our hands open on the pull-up bar and keep going through the pain and blood.
So I let Bill in on the secret of the blog yesterday. I think he was quite surprised. I hope he was pleasantly surprised. We talked a lot about the injury and crossfit in general. Bill sent me some photos of how he looks a little over a month into the program. I can't believe the definite difference in him. I would love to have those kind of results on me. I haven't given up yet, but I think I will have to talk to Gil and find out what I can do to avoid this injury, and let him know that I'm not keen on coming back until I'm better. I need my hands to work and live and I am not going to "drive through the pain".
One of my customers/friends gave me a huge compliment tonight. She said that she thinks I have put together a great shop. I offer a lot of fun activities, classes, and projects for all different tastes by myself, and that I still manage to insist on having a life outside the shop. Even with Bill gone, I still close on time and have a life. It surprised me. I guess I didn't look at it that way, or maybe I just didn't realize that anyone gave me that much thought. That comment just made my day. I still smile thinking about it. It feels great when someone recognized all the hard work you do and is impressed that you can (at least appear to) do it all.
Time to rest the hands. But first, two projects I finished recently.
