Oh, yeah! I KILLED IT!! Woooooooooooooooo!
Today was the Fiesta 10k. I parked downtown, met up with Jen (from the Tuesday night runs), and we caught the shuttle up to PSC. We found ourselves pretty close to the start line and when the gun went, so did we! She took off like a rocket and had a great race.
It was a great race -- a really great race! I started out faster than I had intended, and had to concentrate on maintaining a speedy yet maintainable pace. I think I succeeded. AND I finally broke an hour and obliterated last week's PR!
Splits: 8:49, 9:27, 9:34, (28:56 at the 5k point), 9:43, 9:39, 9:20, 1:52 (=8:19 pace). Looks kind of like a bell curve. But I got some good negative splits at the end! YEAH!
Total is 6.23 miles in 58:23 for an average pace of 9:23! I finished 209 out of 384 and 7th of 24 in my group.
I FEEL GREAT!
