I can do it!

Yup, I CAN run the Disney half marathon and I CAN do it in less than my "secret" goal of 2:30. That's a confident statement. Want to know how I can be so confident? Because I did it!

Today was the longest run of my training -- twelve miles. It is my key week. Next week I start to taper. As I was running, I was wondering whether I could do the full 13.1. This was my only chance to find out before the actual day. Since the run was going really well, I said why not?

I completed 13.14 miles in 2:28:33! That's an average pace of 11:19. Awesome! Splits were: 10:18, 10:48, 11:05, 11:19, 11:15, 11:13, 11:33, 11:44, 11:34, 11:32, 11:33, 11:40, 11:29, 1:30. That's a fairly consistent pace. I am really pleased with that! I will need to remember not to get too excited at the race and start out fast. I will need to force myself to start at a slower pace so I don't crash before the end.

I am so thrilled with my progress over the past eight months. I can't wait to go back and tell my doctor how great I'm doing! He was the one who finally pushed me out the door. I had been thinking about running, but I didn't have the right motivation.

Woo hoo!
