Shoveling

We got out there this morning when the snow stopped to shovel. It was almost not worth it, as the strong winds just kept blowing the snow around. My parents' neighbors were really great. One told me just to take off the top six or so inches and he'd bring the snowblower over to clear it. We got more than 20" of snow and it was too much for his snowblower to handle. While I was doing that, another neighbor came over and helped me. I had intended to get it all done so Dad didn't have to come out, but he did anyway.

Sure enough, the wind had pretty much covered it all up by this evening, so we had to dig out again. I hope the wind will die down overnight and there won't be any digging required tomorrow.

The storm was interesting. It had thunder and lightning in it and the barometric pressure was the same as a category three hurricane. This part of NJ bore the brunt of the storm, with Elizabeth (about 10 miles from here) getting over 31" of snow! I looked out the window by the stairs this morning and you could just see the top of the neighbor's grill. It is one of those huge grills. I knew that shoveling was going to be a chore. I'm grateful for the guy with the snowblower. That really helped a lot!

We spent the rest of the day inside, not doing much of anything. I continued to knit on my sock and was able to finish the first one today. Mom and Dad are working tomorrow, and it will probably be to dangerous to go anywhere in Regina's car, so I'll have some good knitting time. It doesn't look like I'm going to get any more running in while I'm here. I'm glad I went on Christmas Day instead of Sunday, my usual long run day. I wouldn't have gotten any running in. Santa brought me a footpod for my Garmin. I'd love to try it out!
