A new milestone!

So I had intended to run a long run a few day ago, but didn't due to knee pain. Then I didn't know what I was going to do. Well the decision was made for me, when I didn't get up until 8:30. I had an appointment this morning to put new tires on the truck, so I knew I had to go running immediately after feeding the dogs or I wouldn't make it to Vannoy's by 8:00. If I got there late, I didn't know how long it would take, so I felt it might impact my morning too much.

I had a fantastic run! The weather was not the best. It looked like it might open up on me, but it only misted. The humidity was high, as was the heat index. I think the index was 91 degrees at 6:15 and the actual temperature somewhere around 84 or so. Anyway, I was hoping to do the three laps from the other day. I did!

Lap      Time      Distance       Avg. Pace
1           11:56      1.14               10:26
2           12:14      1.14               10:43
3           12:18      1.14               10:46
Total     36:29      3.43               10:38

At 3.1 miles, my time was 31:59, a minute off my race time from last weekend! I am super thrilled with my progress! My knee started to hurt a little around the 2.9 mile point. It did not hurt as much as the other day, so I think that the rest day was a good idea. I wonder if crossfit is hurting the knee. I think it is helping me overall, even though I am starting to be less enamored of it. I still want to finish foundations, whenever that may be. From there, we'll see.

Carol mentioned tonight that she plans to do the half marathon in November. Wow! And I am worried that I won't be able to do a nine-miler in January. She asked me tonight if I had decided whether to do the Bushwhacker Festival 5k in August. I haven't. I actually hadn't given it too much thought. I have been planning on the Marine Corps one in September. I'm wondering if I want to put crossfit on the back burner (after foundations) and concentrate on getting ready for a 10k.

It was nice to be back at work in a way. It was quite a busy day. Between the emails sent over the vacation (which I answered yesterday) and the calls today, I have seven spots filled in my beginner classes! Interestingly enough, one lady who signed up for tomorrow's beginner class has been a Facebook group member and entered this week's contest! I found that a little odd. I don't think I would participate if I hadn't set foot in the shop, but hey, I like her enthusiasm.

I hope tomorrow is as busy, if not more so.

I had a dilemma tonight. Thee ladies all left by 7:30, so I was able to close early. I really wanted to go to the Michael Buble concert. I really debated it. I thought maybe I could drop the dogs off and then go. I got to thinking and even if I left minutes after getting home, I  wouldn't make it to the Civic Center until around 8:30, and then into a seat by 8:45 or so, assuming I was lucky enough to find parking right away. Then I would have missed half the show. It started at 8. I didn't see that he had an opening act. If so, I would have gone. If ticket prices were still $70 and $92, I didn't want to pay that for half a show. Oh well. So I popped in my cds and have been enjoying the evening.
