My jaw hurts less today! I think Thursday was the worst day. Friday there was some improvement, and today even more improvement. I haven't taken any drugs since Thursday night. I think the codeine kept me up that night, so I was hoping for a good night's sleep Friday night, since the drugs were out of my system (or close to it) and there was less pain.
Nope.
I did find a comfortable position, relatively speaking, so I thought it could work. I was awakened at 1:30am by Tawny barfing. And again at 2:30, and again at 4:00. This seemed to be a very mild case, as compared to the previous times. In fact she hasn't thrown up since that last time. However, I believe I was able to get a little sleep finally (after two weeks or so!) as I do not remember any time passing between the 2:30 and the 4:00 vomits.
We went to the vet today and had her blood drawn to send to the specialist in Texas. We sent a "healthy" sample a few months ago. Now we'll see if he sees anything different that may clue us in to the real problem. The vet today seems to think it may just be gastritis and some Pepcid AC would help. I have some on hand from the last time. He also gave me some anti-emedics. I don't think I'll have to give them all to her this go round, so I'll save a few for next time and see if I can nip the problem early.
Her spirit is a little sagging, but she seems OK. I think she peed in the shop as I was taking stuff to the car after closing. I first thought it was liquid barf, but I realized that I had fed her not 15 minutes before, so solids would have come up for sure. I had taken her out maybe five hours earlier, so I didn't think it was necessary to take her out before dinner. Maybe the medicine she got at the vet's made her need to go more often than I realize. Oh well. Luckily it was on the mat by the front door and easily washed. It could have been much worse.
I had some ravioli for dinner! That may not sound like much, but for me recently, that is a big step. I can chew up and down without too much trouble. It's the side to side that is hard. I had some cherries today, too! A customer had brought me a container and I had bought some at the store. The problem was eating them. It hurt too much to try and get the pit out while eating them, as that takes a lot of jaw movement. So I bought a pitter today. So worth the $9. The cherries were delicious and I look forward to eating them all weekend. I am also enjoying a glass of wine for the first time in a week. What a crazy Saturday night!
The shop had a banner day today! Best day in sales in several weeks. In fact, today's sales brought us up over last year month to date. Granted, last July was our worst month on record to that point, but knowing we were closed for a week this July, gives me hope that we will persevere yet another month.
It looks like Tropical Storm Bonnie has fizzled. What great news! I hope every tropical system fizzles. I don't want to deal with them.
It is nice to be home and looking at a weekend. I just want to collapse in a heap, as this past week has been difficult. I have an appointment with my acupuncturist on Monday, and I hope that will help the jaw. Right now though, all I can think about is sleep. I hope the stars will align and I will be able to get more than an hour or two of sleep. Thankfully the only thing on my agenda tomorrow is grocery shopping. Maybe I should add a massage, a mani/pedi, and a trip to the ice cream shop!
