I woke up this morning, leashed up the dogs, and we walked over to the scene of yesterday's crime. I waited, but only one school bus came by at 6:45. She was driving safely. So I can only guess that either it was an anomaly, the driver was identified and punished, or he doesn't take that route at that time every day. Oh well.
The dogs really enjoyed the walk and the weather was incredible. There was even a little -- dare I say it? -- chill in the air! We walked altogether about 1.5 miles. As soon as I got back I changed into my running garb and hit the road. It was hotter then and I could feel it getting hotter as I ran, but that was OK. It was still more pleasant than it has been lately.
I thought about doing two laps rather than start Week 3, but decided to test my 5k skills. Here's my breakdown
mile time
1 10:14
2 10:02
3 10:05
0.1 0:50
3.1 31:13
I feel really good about the run today! No one tried to run me off the road, and I had a nice consistent pace. I think I can get to 30:00 in the 5k in three weeks. That's my new goal. Of course I will continue the B210k training, but I liked making sure I still had the endurance (I took no walk breaks) and I ran a slightly different route today, which made for nicer scenery. I wonder how I would have done in the cooler weather. Maybe we'll find out tomorrow.
