Week Two complete

So I finished week 2 of the Bridge to 10k program today! It was a tough one. Makes me wonder. Why is 15 minutes so hard now? Is it because it is ridiculously hot? Or am I getting weaker? My pace was better today than day 2, and more consistent.

lap    minutes     distance     pace
1        15             1.47         10:12
2        1              330 ft       walk
3        15             1.47         10:12
4        1               246 ft      walk
5        15             1.39        10:46
total    47             4.15        10:34

Actually, when I look at the numbers, they don't look too bad! I guess it just felt hard. It was 85 degrees at 6 this morning with a heat index of 97. Maybe I should think about using the treadmill on base some mornings. Week three is three intervals of 17 minutes with one minute walks in between. I think my 5k time next month will be good.

Last night my friend Michelle and I went out to dinner. We went to the Melting Pot. She's never been and I think she really enjoyed it. She hasn't been out to dinner without the kids in years. They are coming over tomorrow so that Hal can help me install the new chiller for the wine cooler. I'm also going to see if he'll help me cut the plastic tote to get it ready for whenever the new litterbox arrives. I'll have to spend some time this evening vacuuming and relocating all the wine. It might be a good time to catalog it too.

I've been thinking about the jaw and I may have an idea on what caused the pain. I got my haircut in July a few days after Bill left. There was a new lady there doing the wash. She massaged my neck and scalp and also my temples and the sides of my face. I think it is possible she pressed too hard at that joint and caused it to loosen. Then at some point that evening I ate some almonds or something that made me move my jaw a little too much and then it went out of whack. When I go back next month, I'm going to talk to my regular lady (the salon owner) about it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Obviously the best way to test this theory is to have the new lady do the same thing and see if it happens again. But there is no way I am going to go through that again. Certainly not willingly!

Time to get a few things together and head to work. Here's to hoping we can make a few sales today!
