FAIL

This is what I got at the commissary today. Not quite what I expected, but it will do.

Today was an interesting day. I took the cats to the vet for their annual checkup and shots. I have to bring back some poop, since they weren't able to get a sample. If only I had known ahead of time, I would have brought what I cleaned out of the box this morning! Anyway, with the exams, the prescription foods, and the flea and heartworm preventives, I left with two miffed kitties and a lighter wallet. The fire department had to come put out my credit card. Then the fun began.

I went to the hospital to talk to the Tricare office and see if they would be able to better assist me in getting to an oral surgeon. I had to pass the coffee shop on the way there, so I mentioned this to Teresa. Did you know that NHP has an oral surgeon? Yeah, me neither. Unfortunately for me, today was his last day and there is no replacement yet. Grr.

So, off I go to the Tricare office. The best they can do is Dr. Chancey ... in Enterprise, Alabama, a mere 130 miles away. It's either him or the other doctor in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 160 miles the other way. For some reason, all the oral surgeons in the Pensacola area do not accept Tricare (even if this is an approved out-of-network referral), don't treat TMJ problems, or both. So I have an appointment next Monday morning at 9:30. I was thinking out loud about when I would have to leave the house and the lady was astounded that I'd be coming from so far away. She asked me to call her this afternoon. I did and she told me that she had talked to the doctor and he would do whatever he could to make things easier on me. For example, most people who need a bite plate have to come in multiple days in a row (I guess for fitting). He would keep me there most of one day in order to make it work. I appreciate that a lot.

Note to any Pensacolians reading this: don't have TMJ problems here if you have Tricare. Move somewhere else first.

So, six weeks after the initial problem I will get to see the specialist. For those keeping track, the referral was requested July 22.

After the visit to Tricare I went to Dharma Blue for Becky's goodbye lunch. There were 12 of us, including four kids. The food was OK. I didn't get the portobella sandwich because the kitchen could not verify the marinade (disturbing). I got the spinach salad, which was enough spinach for two, a few pieces of egg, four or five mushroom slices, and some grated cheese. I put half aside and ate the other half. At lunch I got to talk to Petra and it turns out that Oktoberfest will be on the 15th. If I will be here, that would be a fun way to spend my birthday. We'll have to see how it goes.

While we were waiting to be seated, one of my customers walked in and said hello to me. Then she introduced me to her friend as "The Knitting Lady"!

After lunch I went to the commissary. They had some really nice looking cherries there. What I didn't realize is that the bag was almost 3#. It cost $11! I will definitely enjoy them!

Time to finish the laundry and post the Facebook contest for this week. I think it will be the toughest yet. Maybe it will take longer than 2 minutes for the first guess to come in. Eight minutes would be good.
