Slow

I didn't sleep well last night so I decided not to run this morning. That may have been a good idea, as it was in the 30s with a vicious wind. I slept in instead. I did, however, get on the treadmill tonight.

Evening runs are rare for me. I'm usually just too tired to run when I get home. When I run in the morning I feel exhilarated and I'm ready to greet the day.

Today was another easy (>11:30 pace) 3 mile or 35 minute run. I set the treadmill to 5.1 and ran. It felt really slow. I concentrated on keeping my heartrate low. Final results were: 3.05 miles in 35:11 for an average pace of 11:31. Woo hoo! I finally got the pace where Coach wanted it! It felt so slow, it's no wonder why I can't get it without help. I think I'm running easy, but I'm doing a sub-11 pace. I'm not complaining, not a bit! I'm thrilled with that statement!

My average heartrate was 154. I didn't even feel like I was running that hard. I can't seem to get it to the 145 he wants. I sent him an email explaining about how six years ago I had my heart checked out because it was working too hard. Bill lent me his HRM and it recorded me at 180 to 200 and I wasn't cycling that fast. The doctor ran a bunch of tests and concluded that everything looked normal, so perhaps my heart just beat faster during exertion.

I had surgery for a deviated septum that was discovered around the same time and that helped me get more oxygen into my lungs and my heartrate slowed down quite a bit, but it was still higher than most.

My feet felt pretty good after the run. I rolled them this morning. I watched the dvds that came with the TPTherapy kit and realized that I was not using them entirely correctly. I may have been doing myself a slight disservice. So I rolled my legs properly this morning and will do so again tomorrow.
