Running in God's Country

We are certainly blessed here with unbelievable training weather! Bill and I got somewhat of a late start this morning. We set out around 10. In Pensacola, it would already be too hot to run. Here it was still perfect. I think the temp was around 60 degrees.

We ran from the house out to the trail we usually do our long runs on and then west to Pacific Grove. We planned to go and do six miles out and turn around. The problem with this idea is the unbelievably steep hill at the entrance to the housing area. It was great to fly down it on the way out, but incredibly difficult to come back up it after having run 11-1/2 miles.

So I titled this post "Running in God's Country" not just because of the great weather. The scenery is to die for! Part of today's run took us on a narrow concrete path around 20 or 30 feet above the ocean. The views were simply stunning. How lucky we are to have this kind of beauty to enjoy!

It is so wonderful to get out and see this!

We ran 12 miles in 2:10:50 for an average pace of 10:54. Splits: 9:55, 11:13, 10:36, 10:33, 10:38, 10:46, 11:22, 11:22, 11:19, 10:25, 10:57, 11:37. That was a really good run!
