We got up relatively early. As we were finishing breakfast, it started to sprinkle. We got hooked up and ready to go. We hit the road at 8:30 in the rain. Luckily the rain only lasted about 20 miles or so. Then we had clear skies all the way.
I wrapped Marco up like a burrito in the hopes that would calm him. It seems to have worked! He did not pee, poop, or puke. That was nice. After about an hour I let him go. He seemed to be comfortable. He snuggled with the dogs and Abby snuggled with Bill. Rava enjoyed watching the world go by.
We made it all the way through Kansas today. This is what Kansas looks like.
That is pretty much the view across the entire state. Eastern Colorado looks like that, too. We did see a rather substantial wind farm. We were pretty amazed by the size of the windmills. Then we saw three trucks carrying blades similar to the ones we saw on the windmills. The sheer size was quite impressive!
We decided that even though we could probably make it all the way to Fort Collins today, that we wanted to stop for the night. Limon, Colorado, was in the right spot. We got to the KOA here around 5:00 Mountain Time. It was a long day of driving. We may have had the energy to go the extra 150 miles, but it was nice to stop and relax.
We went to the Pizza Hut just outside the campground for dinner. It was not the best idea, as they were understaffed and somewhat incompetent. We got pizza to go and came back to the coach. Most of the stuff was untouched, which was a relief. It did feel like a storm was coming in, so it was good to know that Tawny behaved herself. After dinner I went outside for a minute and saw this interesting sky.
I thought it was worth the picture! Bill has been learning our new camera (which has a panorama mode) and has been taking some great pictures.
I hope this storm passes without incident and that the drive tomorrow will be nice and calm and as uneventful as today's was.
