Ran some humungous hills today! Bill and I went with our brother-in-law, Adam, and one of his co-workers to the Horsetooth Reservoir. We did the way up on trails and decided to take the road down. It was a tough run, and I ended up walking some of the uphill. Not only am I not good on trails or hills, the altitude made this one a bear!
I logged the run on the Garmin as two separate runs. The uphill was 1.68 miles with an elevation gain of 528 feet and I ran it in 22:29. Average pace was 13:29. Mile one pace was 12:10 and the 0.68 miles was done at an earth-shattering 15:26 pace.
We took a break at the top and looked at the reservoir. It was pretty. I opted for the road going down because I felt uncomfortable on the trail. There were some really steep sections and a lot of loose rocks. Adam and Eric opted to do the road with us, which was cool.
The down hill half of this run was fun. It was hard to slow down, though! I did 2.02 miles in 19:28 for an average pace of 9:39. What a difference! My Garmin elevations don't make sense. It says I ascended 976 feet and descended 399 feet. Weird.
It was a good, hard run. I really got a workout in.
