Wednesday we loaded up and moved out. Off to Yellowstone National Park! The road there was a little scary.
We climbed and climbed and climbed. We got to 10,640 feet (at least) and saw snow! There were incredible views in every direction. When we got to Yellowstone we headed for Mammoth Hot Springs campground on our cousin's recommendation. We were able to get a spot there and set up camp. Along the way we saw some wildlife, including chipmunks and this guy:
They aren't kidding when they say that the wildlife goes where it wants to go. It's a good thing we were able to maneuver around it.
Once we set up camp, we decided to check out the "town" of Mammoth. We saw the old Fort Yellowstone buildings, now housing park employees, the hotel, the general store, and the restaurants. We had a craving and picked up the fixings for s'mores.
It was a great way to end the day!
Mileage for the day = 147
Total mileage = 2501
