I ran in the new shoes today and they felt great! My feet still hurt a little bit before the run, but the run did not make them feel worse. In fact, I think they feel the same now as they did when I first got up. Which is a little better than yesterday. I am considering going to see a doctor, but I am sure that the recommendation is going to be: stop running and stretch and massage the feet. Although it is possible the problem is not plantar fasciitis.
Today's run was in the freezing cold. I think the temperature was in the low 30s. I ran 3.18 miles in 32:27 for an average pace of 9:53. I wanted to run a fast 5k to support my friends doing the Pensacola Beach run (5k, 10k, or half). Splits were 9:48, 9:51, 10:01, and 1:48 for the last 0.18 (a pace of 9:48). That's pretty consistent, although I would prefer negative splits. I'll have to work on that.
I contacted Coach Mark and set up a time to meet with them Monday to finesse the run and discuss a plan going forward to March's half at Seaside. I'm looking forward to it.
