Sunday procrastination

After my big run today, I zipped over to the shop and took a shower. I was planning on meeting Angela and family for brunch. I figured out that I could do both the run (before the rain was supposed to come in) and brunch if I went to the shop to shower instead of coming home. It was perfect. As I locked the door to the shop and got in the car I saw them headed down the road on the way to meet me. We could not have planned it any better.

My feet gave me issues today. The arches started to hurt around mile 6. The pain was tolerable as I ran, but when I stopped, it really flared up. I could barely get out of the car to go in the shop. I thought my feet were going to fall off! I massaged them when I sat down at the restaurant, and that seemed to help some. When I got home I immediately lay down. Unfortunately all the coffee kept me from sleeping, but it was good to get off the feet. When I got up I iced them and that helped. All in all, the feet feel better, but they still hurt. I'm going to contact Dr. Griffin about the night splints.

At brunch today I ordered the omelet on a portobella mushroom. We went to the Scenic Diner. I didn't say I was allergic to peppers I just asked for no peppers. I took a bite and had to spit it out. There were little pepper bits on the spinach. The manager explained that they prep the food all together, but if I mention that I'm allergic they will get all fresh stuff. So I got a cheese omelet instead. It was good, but not quite what I had in mind. One of these days I am going to have the coffee milkshake. That may be my whole brunch, but I'm going to do it one day.

Speaking of restaurants, I had wanted some Nonna's this week, but they were closed. That's unusual. As I drove home today I saw the sign out front that usually advertises the spaghetti and meatballs had changed. Now it says "Closed For Sale by Owner" OH NO!! That sucks! I really wanted them to make it. They seemed to be doing fine. I don't know if the building is for sale, the restaurant, both, or what, but I am really bummed. It was nice knowing there was good food by good people near by.

Speaking of good people, Teresa called this afternoon. I had called her the other day to see how her doctor visit went. I had also asked her if she would be interested in seeing the Cirque du Soliel show in Mobile next Sunday. Yes, during the Super Bowl. I don't care about either team, so I'm willing to pass on the game. Although we might get back in time to see it. She is interested in going and is going to check ITT tomorrow to see if they have tickets. It should be fun. Both of us need to get out and do something like that.

I didn't bottle the Barolo today as planned. I did take the labels off all the bottles, so I am ready to go. I just need to clean and sterilize all the equipment and the bottles, soak the corks, and then I can start. I plan to do that tomorrow. I made some good progress on the Mystery Sock, so I might be able to get to the bind off point by Wednesday. I am in the heel of the second sock, so I think that progress is good. I hope to have the pair finished by the end of the month. That would be nice.

I sent the newsletter out last night and I've gotten some responses. People are sad we're closing, but they seem to understand. I have to update the web site tomorrow. There seems to be some good interest in the spinning classes and I'm excited about that. We'll go out on a good note. I talked with Lindsay, my cotton sock indie dyer, about going to an online shop. After discussing the pros and cons of all the sites, I think that Artfire is the best option. It should be relatively simple to set up. There is a "vacation mode" in the shop, so I think Regina and I can put the yarns and needles in the shop as we bag and box them. Then when I get back from my trip we can go live. It would be so nice to be able to have everything in and done all at once. I know it is going to take some time, but we have some time. I'll have ten days or so before I go and three or four when I get back. We should be able to do it all in two weeks. It isn't that big a shop, I'm hoping we'll sell quite a bit before closing, and we're not doing anything else. Sounds like a good plan.
