Sunrise ten

Today was another LSD (long slow distance) run. However, I knew that I would have to go a little faster in order to get the 10 miles in in the time noted by my coaches. I don't know if time is more important or distance, so I try to get both :-). My time was 1:50:01 and my distance was 10:08.

The run was great and the weather perfect. My feet on the other hand (no pun intended) were not. I started to feel some arch pain around mile 6. It got worse as the run went on but it was tolerable. When I stopped running is when the feet really started to hurt. I know, I should have kept running! Walking has been a bit difficult today, but elevating them, staying off them, and icing them are helping.

Avg HR = 163. Splits: 10:39, 10:26, 10:40, 10:47, 11:12, 10:48, 11:12, 11:14, 11:03, 10:56, 0:55 (11:25 pace). Average pace was 10:55

I remember doing a similar run not too long ago. It was November 28. Same route, same distance, same day of the week. Let's compare, shall we?

30 Jan  10:39, 10:26, 10:40, 10:47, 11:12, 10:48, 11:12, 11:14, 11:03, 10:56, 0:55/0.08 avg pace 10:55
28 Nov 10:46, 10:40, 10:57, 11:17, 11:42, 11:34, 11:18, 11:33, 11:38, 11:43, 0:50/0.07 avg pace 11:19

Woo hoo! Do you see that improvement?! Wow! That just blows me away. In two months I have improved my average pace by 24 seconds!

I wore the heartrate monitor that day too, and it registered an average rate of 159, which is not far off today's.

I looked at my Garmin today at the 9.35 mile point to see where I was and if this had been next weekend's Double Bridge Run how I would have done. I was at 1:41:30, which is 1:30 slower than I want. I am sure that the excitement of the race will push me to go faster. I think I am ready!

This makes me so happy!
