Busy busy

The past two days have been busy. I've been knitting like mad to try and get through this sweater. I have made good progress. I bound off the front (or back, as the case may be) this evening. I washed it and blocked it and it is now drying.

I'm pleased with it so far. Next I am going to do the sleeves. Having done this part of the sweater now twice (once was the wrong pattern) I don't want to do it again just yet. I need something else to give my mind a break. The sleeves will do that for me.

The kittens are doing really well. Jolie came home from the hospital yesterday. The doctor said to keep her in isolation, so I set up the bathtub for her. I figured she'd be OK in there because the glass doors would keep her in. She screamed for hours in protest.

The more I thought about it, I came to the realization that if she were contagious, the other two kitties would have shown signs of being ill a few days ago. So now they are one happy family and I really think they are glad to be together again. I have to give Jolie Clavamox twice a day. She's supposed to get 0.25ml twice per day until it is gone. OK, but it is a 15ml bottle. That means she'll be on it for 30 days?! Plus the bottle says discard 15 days after opening. We'll see what happens as time goes on.

Apparently sitting on top of the crate is cool for cats. Observe:

Who knew?

Yesterday I was walking around cleaning the back yard and I noticed a few things I had not seen before. I think we have daffodils.

I thought the "Charlie Brown" tree that we have in the yard was a dogwood tree. In fact, I think I remember Mike (the lawn guy) mentioning when I said that it hadn't grown much that dogwoods won't grow if they get too much water and with the lawn always flooding it wouldn't grow. So I have been under the impression that it was a dogwood. But yesterday I saw this:

Close up:

Looks like fruit! Maybe apples or pears. Perhaps it has been the drought that has brought out the fruit. Too much water drowned the tree, but with it being dry, it may have had the chance to fruit. That's kind of cool!

The past few weeks have been hot and humid and miserable. I don't see much of an end in sight. I have a run on the schedule for tomorrow, which I'll probably do first thing before my swim lesson in the morning. I feel bad because I have not gotten to practice over the two weeks I haven't had lessons. I am looking forward to going back, though! I will try and do better with practicing over the next two weeks. I am considering seeing if we can squeeze another few lessons in before I leave. I want to soak up as much information and get as much instruction as I can from Coach John and Coach Mark before we leave. I hope that I'll be able to find someone in Monterey who will help me with my fitness goals.
