Done!

I finished the sweater! I think it looks pretty good! I am also impressed that I was able to complete it in just over two weeks. That is a record for me. I suppose I knew I could knit that fast, but I always had other things going on, like work. What do you think?

Another thing that got finished today was boxing up the inventory of the shop. I got all the information I needed from the liquidators and called to schedule a pick up from UPS. The driver doesn't carry blank labels, so that was a waste of waiting an hour and fifteen minutes. I drove to the UPS main station and picked up the shipping forms I needed. I've filled them out already and made plans to meet the driver in the morning. So that task is almost done.

I did not do my brick workout this morning. When I let the dogs out at 5:30 it was raining, so I decided to go back to sleep. I had considered doing it this afternoon, but there was still the threat of rain. I could have run on the treadmill, but I opted to just take the day off. My body feels good from yesterday's massage (more on that in a minute) and so I just wanted to keep resting it. Was that a good idea? Who knows. However, I don't think that taking today off is going to have an adverse affect on me for tomorrow's tri.

Back to the massage. Since I had been having trouble with my leg, I've been talking to my coaches about it. They suggested I go see their massage therapist. Jim is an ultra-runner, so he understands what the sport can do to the body. He talked about running 50-milers with his wife like I would talk about running 5ks with Bill. I am impressed that anyone can run that kind of distance, especially on trails rather than roads.

He worked on my lower legs for about an hour, stretching them and working some pressure points. Then it was time for a massage. That lasted an hour. Wow. I felt amazing. Two hours of feeling like he was pulling the meat off my bones, but oh so nice. He showed me how to work my leg during and after a run. If it bothers me during a run, I can stop and work the muscle. He said that it is possible I'm getting to much lactic acid building up that isn't getting flushed out, so he showed me how to try and get some of that worked out. That was a great session and I am tempted to see if I can get in to see him once more before we leave.

Tomorrow is the big day! I'm excited and nervous. I'm concerned about the weather. There is a 70% chance of afternoon/evening thunderstorms tomorrow. I am sure the event will be delayed or canceled if there is lightning. I will be bummed if it is canceled. I mean, I completely agree that safety is the number one priority, but I am now mentally ready to do this. Only time will tell. I need to concentrate on getting my stuff together and making sure I have it all!
