Had my first brick workout today. Yesterday when I saw Coach Mark he said we would add some bricks in my schedule to get me ready for the tri. He asked what I had today and I said that it was a 45 minute bike. So he said to add a 10 minute run to that.
The bike ride was nice. I didn't go as fast as I was anticipating, but that's OK. Training rides should be done at a training pace, not at race pace. So I rode 11.23 miles in 47:18 for an average of 14.3 mph.
Then I spent about 1:30 taking the bike in the garage and changing my shoes. Then I started running. My legs felt a little wobbly and I thought I was running in slow motion. I got to the five minute point and turned around. Then I realized that I was running much faster than I thought.
I ran 1.02 miles in 10:05 for an average pace of 9:54.
I feel quite confident now about the bike and run portion of the tri.
