I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House Firecracker 5k this morning. It was a lot of hard work, but I feel glad that I did it. Afterwards I met up with Liz and we took the dogs to the beach. We were there about 25 minutes when we saw two huge jellyfish. They were probably 10" across. We decided it would be best to leave then.
Liz invited me (and the dogs) to dinner tonight. I'm going to bring the wine and dessert. I need to get the cupcakes started. Since I was at the race this morning and am going to their place for dinner, I had to squeeze my workout in the middle of the day. I figured I could do the bike outside, because riding is not as bad as running in the heat. Then I'd do the run part on the treadmill. It has been a while since I was on the TM so, it would be a nice change. The dark clouds rolled in fast right after I left the house. I decided to cut the ride short and hustle back as soon as I saw the first lightning bolt. I guess the brick will have to be another day.
By the way, I learned that putting your left arm out to the left apparently does not mean that you are signaling a left turn. It means that you are pointing to the car that you want to perform a rolling stop and attempt to t-bone you. Grrr. Stupid driver.
I rode 7.38 miles in 32:45 for an average pace of 13.5 mph. Nice and easy, just like Coach wants it.
