I ran the nature trail this morning. It was cooler than usual thanks to all the rain, still humid, and a little overcast. Perfect! I went from the campground to the seawall. When I got to the end of the large parking lots I turned around. I intended to run about an hour. The LSD on my schedule from yesterday that I didn't do was for an a hour and a half. I knew I didn't have that kind of time.
It was a great run. There were dozens of people out, and they all said hello. I loved the scenery and the feeling of running. It was interesting to concentrate on how I put my foot down, since it isn't flat and predictable like the road surface is. I ran 5.39 miles in 56:00 for an average pace of 10:23. My pace was all over the place, though. Splits: 11:02, 9:54, 9:28, 10:52, 10:46, 3:58 (=10:17 pace).
I mentioned to my massage therapist about how different it felt to run on trails. Apparently he and his wife only run on trails. They have three locations they run. The base trail, the trails at UWF, and the Gulf Islands National Seashore Park. They ran yesterday on base. They probably ran right by here. Small world.
