Yes, Tom Petty, I agree. I am going nuts at this moment, waiting to hear from Bill to see if he knows when he'll be able to get home. So in order to take my mind off that, how about a recap of the past few days?
Yesterday was the perfect day to stay in and hunker down under a blanket with a book or some knitting. The rain was constant all day. Thankfully there were no thunderstorms to deal with. Unfortunately I couldn't take advantage of the day. I went out early in the morning and got some balloons for the baby shower and took them to Cookie Amy to bring with her. Then I came back to the coach and got myself cleaned up.
The shower in the coach decided to break irreparably, so I was left covered in suds from head to toe with no shower. I had to use the tube of water. It does not work so well. This morning I went to Camping World and got a replacement showerhead kit. Bummer that you can't get just the cord.
I picked Angela up and we went to brunch. I texted her when I got to her house. That caused me a near fatal error when we got to brunch. I dropped her off and then went to park the car. I texted Cookie Amy to let her know I was parking, but since she was no longer the last person I texted, I ended up sending it to Angela. That will teach me to double check. So there was no organized "Surprise!" but I think the meaning got across OK. When I realized my error, Angela said that she thought it was weird because she knew I was parking the car. Duh, she was just in it! Ooops. Oh well.
The shower was fun. I think Angela enjoyed it and was thrilled. Margaret made it, which really surprised me. I guess either Angela has made quite an impression on her, or she felt that it would be a good opportunity to start coming out of her deep depression. It gave me the chance to see her again. I'm sure I won't have the chance again before we leave.
Following brunch we went to Bia's to knit. Jen Melcher gave me a going away gift. She said it was a happy accident. She made a shawl, but it ended up being way to wide to work for her. Yay for happy accidents! That was super sweet of her to give me that. Bia gave me a knitting project bag, which was really neat. She didn't have to give me anything. I never taught a class for her.
After that, I brought Angela home and helped get all the gifts in the house. I said hello to Dave and thanked him for helping me make it a success. We will see them again before we leave I hope. Bill's calendar is filling up quickly.
And that brings me back to my favorite subject: Bill. I woke up early to let the dogs out and prep for a run. Bill called about five minutes after my alarm went off. Woo hoo! He had landed in DC. Next was to get on a plane and head to Norfolk. I am assuming that he landed, since his flight is listed on the airline's web site as having landed. Now I just have to wait to hear how much he was able to accomplish and when he'll be able to get on a flight here. It is hard because he doesn't have a phone. I hope he can find some wifi and either email or skype me. I'm going nuts here!!
So on to today. I ran this morning. I took the nature trail from the campground to the seawall. At the end of the seawall (where the rescue swimmers building is, I think) I turned around and headed back. It was a pleasant run. I was in a great mood, and the weather was better. Still humid, but cooler and cloudier. My pace was all over the place, but I think part of that was the terrain. I'm not used to trail running.
After that I showered and then started on my errands. I went to Whitney followed by Camping World. Then I dropped by Starbucks and then went for my massage. What a great feeling! I ran into Coach Mark as I left. He was there for his 1pm massage, but found out that it was at 3pm. Oops. We chatted for a few minutes and we are going to try to have that sushi dinner we've been talking about for three years.
I really wanted to come home and sleep after that, but there were too many things that had to be done. I went to Running Wild and picked up some more nuuns (electrolyte tabs), to Cycle Sports to return the bar ends that we didn't need, and then to the Florida Department of Revenue. I wanted to pay the sales tax due and close out the account. It wasn't nearly as complicated as I thought. Phew! No more worries about paying that on time. I was all set to do my return last night when I realized that the packers had packed the packet with my returns in it! Good thing the lady at FDR was able to locate my account and print me a copy.
Following that I went back to the house and put the water that had been delivered into the truck. I wen through the house picking up trash and recycling and putting that in the bins. On my way out I saw that Liz was home so I stopped to chat a few minutes and return her key to her. She would like to have us over for dinner, but doesn't think she can because of her exam schedule, so she wants to go out for dinner so she and James can meet Bill. I've marked out a space for her on the calendar.
When I got back, I found out that I had been gone longer than Tawny's bladder tolerance. Grr. It wasn't a complete surprise. I think that has been the longest I've been away in years. Still a bummer, though.
Now I feel like taking a nap. I wrote my list of chores for tomorrow, which I will do unless I have to go to the airport, which I'd rather do. Among them is laundry. I better find that book I started. Yarnside got a check in the mail today from the liquidators. It feels like it's a pittance, but it is still something. I believe when all is said and done, Bill and I will be able to recoup a good portion of our investment in the business. I am excited over that prospect! When I take that check in to deposit, I am going to pay off the loan. I thought I already had, since I haven't received a bill for it. But I checked the checkbook and I did not pay it off yet. Now I'm mad because it was due today (the 18th) and I would have paid it off today when I went there, but since I didn't get a bill, it wasn't on the radar.
So that about sums up the last two days. I may not have time over the next few days to blog. I will do my best to do a timely post about Thursday's triathlon, though. I'm really excited about it, although I don't think I will have gotten in the water any since my last swim lesson, something I said I wouldn't do. I hope I still remember how to swim!
