Swim lesson #14

My second to last lesson. Sad.

But the lesson was FABULOUS! I think something is clicking for me on the stroke! We started in the pool and did some lengths. He videoed me and we critiqued my stroke. Then we did some drills and worked on proper arm movements. We talked about the difference between triathlon swimming strokes and speed swimming strokes. I am certainly not perfect, but I am getting way better. John seemed very happy with my performance today.

Then we went out to the Sound and swam the tri course. As we were waiting for some jet skis to come in, I saw him jump a little. I figured he got bumped by a fish. A minute later I felt something bite my toe and it surprised me so I shrieked. John asked if the was the crab that had just gotten him. So off we went. The first time I swam the course I did it in 10:32 (June 15). My time has gotten steadily better. My tri time was 8:58. The best time I have had on this course was 7:55 (June 27).

The first time I did the course today I did it in 7:15! We came around to do it a second time and this time I did it in 7:14! "Negative splits!" I can see the difference that the proper stroke makes. I can also tell that I am more confident and comfortable.
