I went to join my Friday afternoon knitting group today. We had another great turnout, with nine people. It is nice to see the ladies. I enjoy spending time with them. I had to leave the group after an hour, as I had a sewing lesson scheduled.
The new tea shop that opened up offers sewing classes. I talked to Bia, the owner a few weeks ago about learning to make something and we decided to make yoga pants. I have been looking forward to this ever since. I mentioned it to my friend Cherryl, as she used to sew and really wants to get back into it. She called me yesterday and said she wanted to go. I picked her up and we headed to the tea shop.
Bia said the class would take three hours. I thought that was ambitious, but I have no idea how long sewing projects take. Cherryl and I left for a little while because we had to get our packets for tomorrow's 5k. The project took us a little shy of 6 hours. I'm glad my friend Jen didn't join me, as she had a prior engagement scheduled for 6pm. We left Bia's at 8:30.
But I have yoga pants! Technically they are Thai fisherman pants. I think I can wear them to lounge around the house in.
I had a great time making this project. I am getting the pattern on Sunday so I will be able to make them again. Unfortunately I do not have a serger, so I can't make them exactly like we did today, but that's OK. I enjoyed spending the time with Cherryl. We had some good laughs.
The dogs were wonderful! They made it through the whole afternoon (nine hours) without any incidents. I felt bad about feeding them late, but they seemed to be in a forgiving mood.
There was a down moment today. As I was waiting for the knitting group to arrived, I surfed the web. I looked at a particular web site that I have been following to see if there were any changes. Nope. About a half hour later I got an email from Bill indicating that the web site had just been updated and the news was not good. I congratulate those of our friends who made the list. They are very deserving. There were many of our friends who did not make the list and I feel that is a mistake. It hurts, but I know deep in my heart that Bill did his best every day to serve this country and do whatever was asked of him, and is simply a victim of the numbers game. I know that this was not what we had in mind, but we will use this opportunity to determine a new path for the future that will be good for us. We now have many different, new, and exciting opportunities that we can take. This is sure to be a very exciting time for us!
